Syringa laciniata (afghanica)

afghanica. A beautiful fine cut leafed shrub of at least 2 metres adorned with masses of upright lilac flower heads with magnificent perfume. The name has been somewhat abused and confused over time and charting its supposed movement from China to Persia makes interesting reading ( being probably a hybrid between two species from these two distant regions ).
